Dennis Devine Obituary, Death: Resident of Lockport NY Has Peacefully Passed Away

Dennis Devine Obituary, Death — Born on September 25, 1946, Dennis Devine passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was loved and treasured by his parents, Phillis (Conley) Devine and Francis “Bud” Devine. His siblings, Timothy, Darcie, and Douglas Devine, all died before him.

The Devine family includes Dennis’s cherished brother David and sister-in-law Roxanne, who will miss him deeply. Moreover, he is related to William McFarland through his brother-in-laws’ marriages: Bonnie to James McFarland, Kendra to Timothy McFarland, and Lynne to Daniel McFarland. His former brother-in-law, Robert McFarland, had already died.

Love, compassion, and devotion to family and community are the enduring qualities that Dennis, fondly remembered as DD by many, leaves behind. In addition to being a doting parent to Kristen (Anthony) Molinaro and Kelley Devine, he was a devoted spouse to Mary Beth. His children also knew how much of a doting father he was. Spending time with his grandsons—Michael, Anthony, Aiden, Christian, and Daniel—brought him unfathomable joy, and he relished every opportunity to do so.

He is also survived by a great number of friends, nieces, nephews, and loving relatives. Denny had deep roots in Lockport, New York, where he was born and brought up. Being a Vietnam War veteran, he lived up to the ideals of sacrifice and patriotism to the utmost. Denny retired from the Lockport City School District after a successful teaching career that began with his time in the military.

He had worked his way up to the post of elementary school administrator. Not only was Denny successful in his career, but he also had many interests outside of work. He was a golf fanatic who relished spending time with his friends at LTCC and he took great pleasure in playing bid pitch, his favorite card game. Playing golf brought him immense joy. Over the course of his life, he served as a board member for the YMCA, the GLDC, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. His dedication to his alma mater was evident in his status as a Distinguished Alumnus of the Lockport City School District, where he had previously attended.

Working with student teachers at Buffalo State College and Niagara University, he maintained his role as an education advocate even after he retired. Attendance at the funeral liturgy in Lockport, New York’s All Saints Parish is requested for Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The family humbly requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Niagara Hospice or the Lockport YMCA in lieu of flowers at this time in memory of Dennis Devine.
