Obituary Notice of Michael Eugene Gibbons, 42, Staten Island New York Resident Has Passed Away

Michael Eugene Gibbons, Obituary, Death –  On Sunday, March 24, 2024, with his loved ones by his side, Michael Eugene Gibbons, 42, of Edison, NJ, passed away. He was born to Michael and Linda Gibbons on Sunday, February 28, 1982, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents passed away while he was young.

Michael attended St. Joseph by the Sea High School and graduated while growing up on Staten Island. Michael met his future wife Priya at Con Edison, where both of his parents had worked. The family’s combined contributions to the organization span ninety years. Working was something that Michael cared much about. In terms of organization, spreadsheets, and data integration, he was a master.

Michael earned his Master of Science in Business Analytics from NYU in 2019 after working for nearly 20 years at Con Edison, during which time he rose to the position of Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Operations Center Manager. Michael enjoyed traveling during his leisure time. His interests included film, history, and delving deeply into a subject that could lead him to a career in teaching or debating.

The importance of life and family was paramount to Michael. Family, especially his daughter, were his everything. No New York Yankees or Jets game ever shook his fandom. For more than a decade, he enjoyed many joyous occasions with friends at the JETS games thanks to his season tickets. He found delight in life’s little pleasures and reveled in laughter. He departed from this world far too soon, and now everything seems much darker without him.

He was the cherished spouse of Priya Patel, with whom she enjoyed a joyful decade. They became friends while working at Con Edison and continued to develop as individuals and professionals as they traveled the globe, stopping in places like the Maldives, Shanghai, Greece, and many more. They welcomed their dog Rajah into the family in 2019, and in 2021, they welcomed their beloved daughter Ariana Linda.

Brother of Caitlin Ratel and Melissa Sheehy; loved and cherished by everybody. To Dilip Patel and Asha Patel, my beloved son-in-law forever. His brother-in-laws’ spouses are John Ratel, Karl Sheehy, and Shyam Patel. Beloved uncle to Karl, Elizabeth, and Emma. The viewings will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. The family will accept friends at these times.

Private interment to follow On Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM, there will be a Hindu Blessing Ceremony. Please feel free to bring any mementos or photographs you may have to share with the family.

Location: 1697 Oak Tree Rd, Edison, NJ 08820 Umayya Dham Temple. Since the family saw firsthand how each transfusion extended our time with Michael, they ask that, instead of flowers, you donate whole blood and/or plasma whenever possible. Additionally, if you are interested in becoming a bone marrow donor, you should think about getting swabbed and signing up with Be The Match. An important person and their family can benefit from your actions.
