Jerry Cunningham Obituary, Death – James “Jerry” G. Cunningham died unexpectedly on August 1, 2023, leaving a vacuum in the community that would never be filled. Jerry, who was 61 years old, was a beloved father, brother, friend, and husband. His contagious sense of humor, warmth, and friendliness had an impression on everyone he knew. Jerry was born in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, on August 12, 1961. He has always taken pleasure in his Irish heritage. He was a proud 32-year employee of Boston College’s maintenance and facilities department, where he dedicated his time to the upkeep of Conte Forum, leaving an indelible imprint on the campus community.

Jerry married his true love, Eileen M. (Sheppard), on May 14, 1988, at St. James Church in Stoughton. They go on a journey filled of love, joy, and countless beautiful experiences together. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters, and, most recently, his beloved grandchildren. His family gave him the greatest joy in life. Jerry, a passionate sports fan, had a special fondness for soccer and had long supported Chelsea F.C. He also enjoyed football and rugby, often losing himself for hours in the excitement of the game. As a passionate movie fan, he found solace in the world of movies, where he could immerse himself in stories of romance, adventure, and victory.

Jerry adored both his immediate and extended families in Ireland and the United States. He was a source of strength and encouragement, offering counsel, love, and expertise to anyone who inquired. Jerry’s daughters Shannon Manning and her husband Peter of Millis, and Kerri Gimler and her husband Ryan of Mansfield, along with his wife Eileen, left a legacy of love and dedication. He was also the cherished brother of Vincent Cunningham, Millicent Murray, David Cunningham, and Alan Cunningham.

His sister, Doris McArdle, died before him. Jerry’s nieces, nephews, and other friends and coworkers who were touched by his generosity and kindness will cherish his memory. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Jerry’s life at calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home in Foxborough on Tuesday, August 8, from 4 PM to 7 PM. A funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, August 9, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be donated to a charity of one’s choice in Jerry’s name.
