Fred Mosher Death – Dr. Fred Mosher was one of our most beloved instructors here at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), and his passing on March 22, 2024, has left us all with deep sadness and grief. We will never be the same after Dr. Mosher’s departure. His impact on the lives of his students and colleagues extended far beyond his expertise as a lecturer and satellite meteorologist. In addition to his unparalleled knowledge in meteorology, Dr. Mosher’s enthusiasm for the subject was infectious. His extraordinary talent at breaking down difficult ideas into manageable chunks and sharing his infectious enthusiasm for the subject prompted innumerable pupils to follow in his footsteps and become meteorologists or atmospheric scientists. Everyone fortunate enough to study from him was moved to tears by his unwavering commitment to his art, which shone through in every class discussion, experiment, and lecture.

Along with his many achievements in academia, Dr. Mosher was well-known for his compassionate nature, boundless generosity, and sincere care for those around him. He made a point of showing kindness and consideration to everyone he encountered. Everyone Fred met was affected by his kindness and compassion, whether he was helping a struggling student or a coworker going through a tough time. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Mosher had a significant impact. Both students and teachers looked up to him as a mentor and friend who could always be relied on for sound counsel, words of encouragement, and emotional support. His eagerness to listen and provide advice made him a beloved figure to anybody who sought his assistance, and his door was never closed.

The ERAU community will grieve the passing of Dr. Mosher with great sadness. Everyone on campus, from students to professors, will miss him dearly when he is no longer physically present. Even though we are grieving, we take comfort in the times we spent with Fred and the memories he left behind. While we grieve the loss of our dear professor, let us remember Dr. Mosher by carrying on his legacy of compassion, generosity, and devotion. Let us hold dear the wisdom he shared with us, both in and out of the classroom, and do our best to be as kind and kind as he was.
